High security for Twilight costumes
Vampire love story The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is shattering box office records, and now even the film's costumes travel with security and behind glass.
Event Cinemas in Manukau recorded the second-highest midnight opening attendance in Australasia for the film, with more than 1900 attending. And the company's management expects the city's moviegoers to flock back to catch a glimpse of the costumes – including the world's most famous denim shorts.
Event Cinemas has secured the only New Zealand appearances of the clothing for display at Manukau from tomorrow until July 21 between 2pm and 8pm, and at Albany from July 23 to 31, between 4pm and 8pm, with admission by any movie ticket bought during that period.
Event's Jane Hastings said: "The clothing has to be in shatterproof glass and be guarded by security – it is in such demand."
Among the items going on display are the denim shorts worn by teen heart-throb Taylor Lautner – who plays Jacob, one-third of the series' complex love triangle.
Hamilton's Event Cinemas Chartwell sold out six theatres holding 1264 people in three days, while Event presold more than 10,000 tickets across the country.
